So after a few months, I was finally able to save up enough to get a new computer. It’s much more powerful than my old laptop, which had effectively died.
- Intel Core i5 8600 Processor
- 16GB DDR4 RAM
- Nvidia GTX 1070 Graphics Card
- 256GB M.2 SSD
- 2TB HDD
That means that I can finally resume A Proud Life development. I should also be able to test any alpha builds using Dolphin on the PC. Previously I would have to transfer the ISO to a USB drive and play it on my Wii to try it out.
I’ll be creating some more guides on stuff I’ve already learned (e.g. texture replacement, dialogue editing, etc).
I’ll be doing some travelling later this month, but hope to have at least some of these tutorials up by the end of October, with more actual development to be done over the next few months.
As was the case before, the main hurdle will be CLZ (Compressed with a Lempel–Ziv–Welch algorithm) files. So far, I believe that the character models, face textures, and some of the clothing textures are contained in these CLZ files.
My current goal will to be to have all of the gendered dialogue edited for each game by the end of the year, at which point I’d like to release a new alpha build of the patches.
